Back-rolling
Definition
Following a sprayed coat of paint immediately with a roller while the paint is still wet, so the coating is worked into the texture of the surface instead of sitting on top of it.
Why It Matters
Spraying alone lays paint on the high points of stucco and textured siding and can leave the recesses thin. Back-rolling pushes the paint into the surface, evens out the film thickness and improves adhesion, which is what makes a coat last through Nevada sun and freeze-thaw.

On a stucco exterior in Sparks, one painter sprays a section and a second follows with a roller before it flashes off.
