Deck Sealing

First, we will assess the wood to determine the most suitable cleaning or stripping method for your needs. Additionally, we will provide you with an overview of the project's scope to ensure you have a complete understanding of the work to be carried out.

If we opt for cleaning, we will utilize a soft power wash on the areas in question. However, if we decide to strip the wood, the following process will be followed:

  1. Soft power wash
  2. Apply the stripper
  3. Soft power wash again
  4. Apply a brightener
  5. Soft power wash again
  6. Sand the areas to be sealed
  7. Apply the finish by spraying, rolling, or brushing.

We usually use two types of sealers: acrylic-based or oil-based. The solid base, semi-transparent, transparent, and semi-solid finishes are available in a variety of colors and stains.

More pigment in the stain will result in a longer-lasting finish, while clear sealers tend to have a shorter lifespan. The solid and semi-solid stains are better at concealing the grain, while the semi-transparent and transparent options allow the wood grain to appear more natural.

We will always provide samples to ensure your satisfaction and share our expertise to ensure you understand precisely what you are receiving.

The acrylic-based sealers adhere to the wood on the exterior of the grain, while the oil-based sealer penetrates the wood. Both sealers have advantages, with acrylic-based sealers typically lasting longer but appearing less natural than oil-based sealers. Acrylic bases can be cleaned with soap and water, while oil bases can be cleaned with paint thinner.
