Architectural review
Definition
The process by which a homeowners association approves changes visible from outside a home, including exterior paint colours, usually through an architectural committee working from an approved palette.
Why It Matters
Many Reno, Sparks, Spanish Springs and Dayton communities require written approval before exterior painting. Caughlin Ranch, for example, requires it unless you are repainting an already-approved colour. The approval belongs to the association, not the painter or the paint store, so get it before the job starts.
Simple Example
A Somersett homeowner submits colour chips and a photo mockup; the committee takes about three weeks; painting is scheduled after the letter arrives.
