Why does the south side of my house look worse than the north side?

Ultraviolet light. At 4,000 to 4,500 feet there is 10 to 15 percent more UV than at sea level, and the south and west elevations take most of it. UV breaks down the binder in the paint and the pigment chalks off. The north side of the same house can look almost new.
